Forty new jobs as factory wins planning approval

FORTY new jobs will be created following the granting of planning consent for a new industrial building at Birchwood Park, Warrington.

The development will allow existing company Warrington Fire to move across town from Howley and expand.

They already employ 140 people and plan to take on 40 more, Warrington Borough Council’s development management committee was told.

Outline planning consent for the new building was originally approved in 2015 and detailed proposals have now been completed.

Warrington Fire carry out testing, inspection and certification of materials, products and processes for a wide range of customers to ensure compliance with fire safety regulations and general fitness for purpose.

The committee was told the development would be abutted on two sides by Daten Avenue and Kelvin Street. The nearest houses were about 340 metre away on Warrington Road, Risley while there were others about 360 metres away in Brunskill Close.

There were no objections to the development and officers said it was an acceptable development in line with the 2015 outline planning consent.
