POLICE are warning residents to be on their guard against bogus callers after one gained entry to a property at Penketh posing as a gas supply representative.

The bogus caller gained entry into a local resident’s house posing as a gas supply representative wanting to read the gas meter.

Police say the person wore ID but the ID was fake.

Police advice is to make the person wait outside of your house and call the company from which they represent to confirm ID. Once the ID is confirmed as genuine you may let them enter your property.

Concerns can also be reported to police via 101 or in an emergency via 999.
