A hive of activity at RAF Burtonwood Heritage Centre

THROUGHOUT December and into January, the RAF Burtonwood Heritage Centre has been, and still is, a hive of activity, with the team hard at work constructing a new display building.

Twice the size of any that have been added in the expansion of the Burtonwood Heritage Centre in recent years. This building will house a variety of previously unseen items, as part of a new engineering exhibition.

Heritage Centre manager John Cotterill said: “We’ve also dedicated some time during these months, to rearranging some of the existing displays in the main Heritage Centre building, allowing us to create more space for the addition of numerous items, that have been generously donated over the last two years.

“With the promise of more donations, it’s safe to say that the work is by no means over – we may even have to expand into yet another building!

“We are constantly amazed by people’s continued generosity in donating artefacts and are proud to be able to provide them with a home, whereby visitors are able to view items and displays that make up and sustain an aspect of Warrington’s cultural history. For as long as the generosity of the general public continues, we will endeavour to provide a place for people to experience this!

“Maintenance work and updates to the Burtonwood Heritage Centre will continue at pace, as we work towards reopening on 19th February, when we look forward to opening our doors to many new and returning visitors, in 2022.”
