A motorist who failed to stop for police after driving the wrong way through Warrington town centre, speeding off through a red traffic light, was almost double the drink driving limit.

The male driver was eventually stopped by two members of the Cheshire Police Special Constabulary team and backed up by mobile B Block officers.

The driver refused to provide a sample of breath and decided to be obstructive, so was arrested for several offences including, fail to provide, no insurance, dangerous driving, contravening a no entry and contravening a red traffic light.

Later in custody, the driver was willing to provide a sample of breath, resulting in him blowing 65 which is almost double the legal limit of 35.

He has now be interviewed and charged to appear before magistrate’s court for drink driving and various other offences- and it is not his first time!
