Kidsgrove Athletic v Warrington Rylands – Big game preview

WARRINGTON Rylands are on the road again on Saturday when they travel down the M6 to visit Kidsgrove Athletic in their third away game in eight days.

While Rylands were winning 2-0 at Colne on Tuesday KIdsgrove Athletic were beating Rocester of the NWCFL Division One South 5-0 at home in the Staffordshire Senior Cup. Star of the show was Kingsley Adu-Gyamfi who netted a first half hat-trick.

Kidsgrove’s league form has not been as good, their last victory coming in November against City of Liverpool. Since then they have drawn once and lost seven times including last Saturday when they lost 3-0 away at Prescot Cables, with incidentally all three goals were scored by former Rylands players.

Second bottom of the league’s six game form guide KIdsgrove have dropped from 9th when their run of bad form started down to 17th and are looking over their shoulders at the relegation trap door.

Including cup ties Kidsgrove have played 14 home games attracting an average crowd of 294 with the biggest attendance being 1,100 for the Christmas clash with Leek Town (the next highest being 358  against Newcastle Town) while the lowest was 112 for a Staffordshire Senior Cup game against Rocester.

Regular opponents in the Mid-Cheshire League, Warrington Rylands hosted KIdsgrove Athletic at Gorsey Lane in a NPL West fixture on 16th October 2021. In front of a crowd of 202 Rylands won 3-0 with all three goals scored by Declan Walker, Kane Drummond and
Callum Dolan coming after the hour mark.

Kidsgrove’s leading goal scorer is Kieran Brown who has netted 11 times this season, while Rylands top scorer is Kane Drummond with 10.
