Appeal after 14-year-old boy suffers fractured jaw in serious assault outside Hop Pole pub

DETECTIVES investigating a serious assault when a 14-year-old boy suffered a fractured jaw after being punched in the face outside the Hope Pole pub in Warrington town centre, are appealing for information from members of the public.

The assault occurred at 5.25pm on Tuesday 21 December when the offender rode away from the scene on a scooter in the direction of Horsemarket Street towards Buttermarket Street.

The boy is believed to be 18-year-old with a Liverpool accent. He is described as wearing a black Moncler puffer jacket, light grey tracksuit and jogging bottoms, white Nike trainer with a black balaclava covering his face.

He was also wearing a Gucci bag with a red and black strap across his shoulder. The victim was taken to hospital with injuries consisting of a fractured jaw.

Since the assault took place police have been reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses however are still appealing for information.

Detective Constable Pam Hunter said: “The boy sustained serious injuries to his face after being punched by a male using what we believe may have been a knuckleduster.

“While the circumstances surrounding the assault are ongoing I am encouraging anyone with information to get in touch.

“If you know the person who committed the assault or if you were in the area at the time it took place and not yet spoken to an officer please contact us.

“I would also appeal to anyone with dashcam footage that may be of assistance to the investigation to also make contact.”
