Three more deaths as COVID-19 infection rates continue to rise with 721 new cases

THREE more COVID-19 related deaths have sadly been reported at Warrington Hospital as infection rates continue to rise in the town with 721 new confirmed cases.

A total of 721 (655) new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed by the UK Health Security Agency in the latest daily data, taking the total number of cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 52,842 (52,121).

Infection rates over a seven-day period have risen again to 5,059 (4,816) – 2,416 (2,299.9) per 100,000 population which are well above the national average of 1,878.2 (1,791.7) per 100,000, which also continue to rise.

While three further deaths have been reported, Hospital inpatient numbers have also fallen slightly from 99-91 while a total of 18 patients have been discharged since yesterday. It comes as the latest small area data for the town shows unprecedented levels of COVID-19 in the local community. (see below)

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 542 (550) 258.8 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 223.2
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 625 (624) 298.5.
