Four more COVID-19 related deaths as hospital inpatient numbers rise sharply

FOUR more COVID-19 related deaths have sadly been reported at Warrington Hospital over the New Year period, while inpatient numbers have risen sharply from 54 to 77.

Meanwhile, 641 (822) new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed by the UK Health Security Agency in the latest daily data, taking the total number of cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 50,758 (50,117).

Infection rates over a seven-day period have risen again to 4,464 (4,290) – 2,131.8 (2,048.7) per 100,000 population which are well above the national average of 1,596.9 (1,525.9) per 100,000, which also continue to rise.

Along with the four deaths, Hospital inpatient numbers have climbed from 54-77 over the new year period, including three in ICU, while a total of 29 patients have been discharged.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 550 (539) 257.9 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 222.
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 624 (616).
