COVID-19 infection rates continue to rise sharply in Warrington with 822 new cases

COVID-19 infection rates in Warrington are continuing to rise sharply with another 822 cases confirmed in the town – and are now well above the national average.

The 822 (634) new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed by the UK Health Security Agency in the latest daily data, taking the total number of cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 50,117 (49,295).

With some data delayed over the holidays, it has now been revealed a record 933 new cases were reported on December 29, compared to the 794 reported at the time.

Infection rates have risen again to 4,290 (3,930) – 2,048.7 (1,876.8) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period which are well above the national average of 1,525.9 (1,414.3) per 100,000., which also continue to rise.

Warrington & Halton Hospitals data is due to be updated tomorrow, Tuesday.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 539 (539) 257.4 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 221.9.
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 616 (616).
