MP commends pupils on internet campaign success

WARRINGTON North MP Charlotte Nichols has commended pupils at St Ann’s C of E Primary School in Orford after hearing about the problems the school was experiencing with their internet connectivity.

Year Six pupils wrote to their MP to raise their concerns about issues with the local internet speeds. The problems meant that children routinely could not access the internet. When they could, the service frequently dropped out. The problem was affecting their ability to take part in online learning.

The pupils invited Charlotte to meet with them at the school to discuss the issue. After hearing directly from the children about how these problems had impacted them, Charlotte took the issue up with the Chief Executive of Openreach.

Openreach have now investigated the issue, the fault has been identified, and the problem resolved.

Charlotte said: “I was very impressed by the Year 6 pupils at St Ann’s Primary. They set out their concerns about local internet speeds to me in a clear and compelling way. I was happy to take up the issue with Openreach on their behalf and I am delighted to hear that the fault has been found and resolved.

“The pupils should be very proud of themselves. Due to the action they took, children at the school and their teachers can now access good quality internet services which meet their needs.”
