WARRINGTON’S Mayor Cllr Maureen Creaghan, hosted an enchanting evening for children and families supported by one of her chosen charities, JUMP at Walton hall & Gardens.
JUMP provides photograph and film memories for families with children with terminal and life-limiting illnesses throughout the North West.
Children and their families were welcomed to Walton Hall and Gardens last night, Tuesday by the Mayor, before setting off on the Luminate trail. They were then invited into the hall to enjoy refreshments, followed by a special visit from Santa who handed out goody bags filled with festive treats and gifts.
The spectacular and captivating illuminated trail is at Walton from until Friday 24 December – so children and their families were given a special preview last night.
Cllr Creaghan, said: “The work JUMP does for families in Warrington is so important. I hope the evening spent at Walton, seeing the amazing lights and enjoying the interactive light play along the Lumimate trail will provide happy memories for the children, their families and carers.
“We wrapped up warm and explored the captivating trail through the stunning grounds and then it was fantastic to see so many smiling faces when we were greeted by Santa, with the hall beautifully decorated ready for Christmas. It really was an amazing evening and I hope all of the children and their families have made special memories to cherish.”
Photographs were taken throughout the evening and will be given to families to add to their memory books gifted by JUMP.
Luminate opens to ticketholders from today, Wednesday 24 November, now the gardens have been transformed into a Winter Wonderland that will fascinate and be enjoyed by everyone, young and old alike.
Set to ambient music, you can explore the estate like never before in complete darkness and guided by festoon lighting, and then finish the evening by warming up next to the fire pit with a hot drink and toasted marshmallows.
The trail will start through the courtyard in front of the riding stables, where a selection of food and drink is available, and follow a clearly defined route – it will delight little ones as some parts of the trail features interactive lighting installations, where they can enjoy the light play.
The fully accessible trail is approximately 1.4km long and the enthralling walking experience will take around 60 to 90 minutes to complete (depending on how quickly you walk through).
Cllr Tony Higgins, cabinet member for leisure and community, said: “Walton Hall and Gardens is a special place to visit and so many people have such fond memories here, so I’m delighted to see the transformation into an amazing Winter Wonderland experience.
“This enchanting trail and light show is the perfect event to enjoy in the run up to Christmas, with its festive feel and interesting activity, it will be a magical experience for the whole family to enjoy.”
