A SCHEME to divert food donated by supermarkets away from landfill and to people in need has been launched at St Margaret’s Community Hub, Latchford, Warrington.
The Bread and Butter Thing attracted a big sign-up of residents and an influx of volunteers.who made sure the first day went well.
The directors of the charity said they were extremely proud to be the first hub for the Bread and Butter Project in Warrington.
Michelle Hayes, centre co-ordinator for the Hub said “We are thrilled to be the first Warrington hub working with this community-oriented charity project. We have many families and individuals who will save money once they have signed up.
“Working with other charity providers is key to supporting people in need and this partnership will help so many people”
The Bread and Butter project offers members discounted food donated by supermarkets, factories, farms, etc which might otherwise end up in landfill.
