Special events to mark centenary of Appleton Thorn War Memorial

WITH Remembrance Sunday on November 14 coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the dedication of Appleton Thorn’s War Memorial in November 1921 a number of events are planned to mark the occasion.

The events include a display of crosses in front of St Cross Church to represent individual Forces men and women from the South Warrington area who were involved in military operations over the past 100 years.

The Church will also be open for viewing a display and historic review of individual military stories of named soldiers who were involved in military operations over this century. There is a large display of poppies both inside and outside the church.

There is also a celebration centenary concert at 7:30 on the evening of Friday 12th November, by invitation only and a Remembrance service at 10:30 on Sunday 14th, both in St Cross Church.

St Cross Church will be open 10am- 4pm on Saturday 13th November and 12 -4pm on Sunday 14th November for viewing these displays.
