Electric Vehicle charging points to be installed on Warrington streets

ON-street Electric Vehicle (EV) charging points are set to be installed in Warrington to support residents without driveways.

Warrington Council has announced plans to install 30 new charging points after it was awarded £95,000 worth of funding from the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV).

The installations aim to remove existing barriers for those without driveways and support Warrington residents in transitioning to electric vehicles.
EV charging specialist, Connected Kerb, will be installing its charging solution across five locations, including:
– Gladstone Street
– White Street
– Lexden Street
– Bewsey Street
– Manchester Road
Warrington Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for highways, transportation and public realm, Cllr Hans Mundry, said: “We are delighted to have received funding from OZEV that will enable us to take a positive step towards ensuring our residents have access to on-street charging facilities. It’s our hope that these installations will encourage more widespread EV adoption across Warrington, including those people without driveways or off-street parking.”
Chris Pateman-Jones, CEO of Connected Kerb, commented: “Providing convenient on-street charging is key to accelerating the transition to electric vehicles, so it is great to see Warrington Borough Council putting concrete actions in place by rolling out an on-street charging network.”
Warrington residents are eligible for a £75 discount code on a monthly electric vehicle subscription to provide them the opportunity to try out an EV.

This project will be the first of many schemes the Council has planned leading up to 2030.
