Firefighters rescue lorry driver trapped in cab following serious collision on M62 at Winwick

THREE fire crews and paramedics were called out when a lorry driver was trapped in his cab following a two-vehicle collision on the M62 at Winwick, Warrington, earlier today.

The collision involving two HGVS took place shortly before 9am and J9, M62 westbound exit slip road was closed while emergency services attended at the scene. It has since re-opened.



Firefighters from Warrington, Birchwood and Lymm were dispatched to the scene and on arrival they found the collision involved two HGVs
One man aged in his 60s was trapped in his cab as a result of the incident so the crews used specialist cutting equipment to release him.
The man was passed to the care of paramedics and subsequently taken to Aintree Hospital.
The crews were detained at the scene for around one hour.
