NO further COVID-19 deaths have been reported at Warrington Hospital over the weekend while infection rates have fallen again in the town, with 99 new cases confirmed, and are now below the national rate which also continues to fall.
The 99 (73) new cases reported by Public Health England, takes the total number of cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 28,841 (28,742).
Infection rates in Warrington for the last seven days have fallen again to 632 (671) – 301.8 (320.4) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period which is now slightly below the national average of 303.3 (311.4) per 100,000, which have also fallen again.
Meanwhile, the latest figures for the UK has recorded 49 more COVID-19-related deaths and 36,100 new cases in the latest 24-hour period, with the number of COVID patients in hospital now at 7,847. It is the first time since 7 September that the number of patients has been below 8,000. The number of patients in mechanical ventilation beds currently stands at 1,011.
Since the pandemic began early last year, a total of 135,252 people have died in the UK within 28 days of a positive COVID test.
