Fluctuating COVID-19 infection rates fall again with 73 new cases

COVID-19 infection rates have fallen again in Warrington over a seven-day period, with 73 new cases confirmed, although they remain above the national rate which continues to fall.

The 73 (77) new cases reported by Public Health England, takes the total number of cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 28,742 (28,669).



Infection rates in Warrington for the last seven days have fallen again to 671 (700) – 320.4 (334.3) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period which is slightly above the national average of 311.4 (322.1) per 100,000, which have also fallen again.

Meanwhile, the latest figures released by the Department for Health, show COVID-19 cases are down 17.7% in a week.
But a total of 1,003 deaths have been recorded in the last seven days, a 3.3% weekly rise.
The update also shows 48,573,881 first jabs have been administered, up 25,375 in a day.
This means 89.4% of people aged 16 and over have received a first vaccine dose.
A further 71,101 second vaccine doses have also been given, taking the total to 44,428,209 – 81.7% of the population aged 16 and above.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 504 (503) 240.7 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 201.5
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 580 (580).

*Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths reported on Sunday, September 19 2021 was 56 (164), taking the total number of deaths to 135,203 (135,147).
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 29,612 (30,144), taking the total number to 7,429,746 (7,400,739).
Across the country, there are 8,068 (8,068) patients currently in hospital and 1,020 (1,020) on ventilation.
