Fluctuating COVID-19 infection rates fall again while hospital inpatient numbers rise

WHILE no further COVID-19 deaths have been  reported at Warrington hospital inpatient numbers have risen and the town’s fluctuating infection rates have fallen again with 104 new cases.

The 104 (74) new cases reported by Public Health England, takes the total number of cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 28,523 (28,419).



Infection rates in Warrington for the last seven days have fallen slightly again to 7o2 (716) – 335.2 (341 .9) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period which is still below the national average of 347.9 (360) per 100,000, which have also fallen again.
While no more deaths have been reported at Warrington Hospital, inpatient numbers have risen from 18 to 21 with 3 in ICU. Four patients have been discharged.

Meanwhile the UK has recorded another 158 coronavirus deaths and a further 26,911 cases, with the number of COVID patients in hospital now at 8,339.The total number of people in hospital with coronavirus in the UK has been over the 8,000 mark for nine of the past 10 days. The number of patients in mechanical ventilation beds currently stands at 1,081 – the figure has been over 1,000 every day since the last day of August. Before this, the last time the number was as high was in mid-March.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 503 (503) 240.2 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 201.
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 580 (580).
