COVID-19 infection rates continue to fall in Warrington in the latest data from Public Health England and remain below the national average, with 94 new cases confirmed.

The 94 (80) new COVID-19 cases take the total number of cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 26,746 (26,652).



Infection rates in Warrington for the last seven days have fallen again, to 656 (686) – 313.3 (327.6) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period which is below the national average of 353.5 (353.8) per 100,000, which has fallen marginally.

Meanwhile, the UK has recorded another 33,196 coronavirus cases and 61 deaths in the latest 24-hour period. Another 132,180 people received a second coronavirus vaccine dose yesterday, taking the total number of those over 16 who are now fully inoculated to 42,639,781.
The UK government said it plans to give booster COVID-19 jabs, alongside flu jabs, to the most vulnerable groups from 6 September.
As yet, no specific details on the programme have been announced.

Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths reported on Sunday, August 29 2021 was 61 (133), taking the total number of deaths to 132,437 (132,376).
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 33,916 (32,406), taking the total number to 6,731,423 (6,698,486).
Across the country, there are 6,942 (6,942) patients currently in hospital and 982 (982) on ventilation.
