Three more COVID-19 related deaths at Warrington Hospital and 103 new cases

THREE more COVID-19 related patients have sadly died at Warrington Hospital, while 103 new cases have been reported in the latest data from Public Health England.

The 103 (106) new COVID-19 cases take the total number of cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 26,307 (26,204).



Infection rates in Warrington for the last seven days have fallen again slightly after yesterday’s brief rise, to 743 (765) – 354.8 (365.3) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period but remain above the national average of 334.4 (327.4) per 100,000, which continues to rise.
Meanwhile, the highest total of weekly COVID-19-related deaths have been recorded in the UK since March, according to the latest Office for National Statistics.
There were 652 deaths registered in the week ending on 13 August, an increase of 6.7% on the previous week.
This is the highest number since 800 fatalities involving COVID-19 were registered in the week to 26 March.

There are also 5 long-term COVID-related inpatients at the hospital.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 494 (494) 235.9 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 196.6.
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 577 (576).

Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths reported on Tuesday, August 24 2021 was 174 (40), taking the total number of deaths to 131,854 (131,680).
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 30,838 (31,914), taking the total number to 6,555,200 (6,524,581).
Across the country, there are 6,934 (6,441) patients currently in hospital and 942 (928) on ventilation.
