UPDATED: TRAVELLERS have vacated land at Croft Youth and Activity Centre on Smithy Lane, Croft.

It is understood that four caravans that arrived on the land last Wednesday, were escorted off the site at around 6pm this evening, Monday.
Warrington Borough Council successfully served a notice ordering the encampment to vacate the council owned land.

It is uderstood the travellers have now moved on to land at Gorse Covert.

When The encampment arrived last week local Cllr Wendy Maisey said, “The Culcheth Glazebury & Croft Borough Councillors were made aware that an encampment had been set up on the field next to the CYAC in Croft.
“All three Councillors and Parish Cllr Keith Bland have visited the site at various times and updated residents on social media.
“The Problem is we know they will just move to another nearby location. I’m still awaiting a breakdown to the taxpayers of cost for the Silver Lane clear up from WBC, the continual delay in naming the transit site it really is false economy. It’s also a source of real frustration for local residents.”
Cllr Kath Buckley, Council Group Leader of the opposition added. “At the last full Council meeting we put forward a motion which would ensure that Mr Bowden named the location of the transit site by May 2022. This was voted down by Labour and the committee has still yet to meet despite requests from us. We are still pushing for the committee to reconvene and get on with the job in hand.”
* Other unauthorised encampments in the Warrington area currently include the Former BT contact centre, Europa Boulevard, Westbrook and Former JTF site, Chesford Grange, Woolston.
Bother are on privately owned land and Warrington Borough Council is providing assistance and support to the landowners.
