One more COVID-19 related death and 106 new cases as infection rates rise again

ONE more COVID-19 related patient has sadly died at Warrington Hospital over the weekend, while 106 new cases have seen infection rates rise again after yesterday’s brief fall.

The 106 (90) new COVID-19 cases take the total number of cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 26,204 (26,098).



Infection rates in Warrington for the last seven days have risen again after yesterday’s brief fall, to 765 (740) – 365.3 (353.4) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period and remain above the national average of 327.4 (319.8) per 100,000, which continues to rise.
Meanwhile, the UK has reported another 31,914 coronavirus cases and 40 deaths. Another 40,345 people have had their first dose of a coronavirus vaccine, taking the total number to 47,690,741 (87.7% of the population aged over 16).
The number of people fully vaccinated has risen by 116,352 to 41,810,753 (76.9%).

There are also 5 long-term COVID-related inpatients at the hospital.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 494 (494) 235.9 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 196.3.
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 576 (573).

Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths reported on Monday, August 23 2021 was 40 (49), taking the total number of deaths to 131,680 (131,640).
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 31,914 (32,253), taking the total number to 6,524,581 (6,492,906).
