Roads to be closed for the Birchwood 10k race on Sunday

A NUMBER of roads in the Birchwood area of Warrington will be closed to traffic on Sunday while the annual Birchwood 10k race takes place.

Roads will be closed between 8.30am and 1pm – accepting emergency services and vehicles taking part in the event.
The ban includes bicycles – and fines of up to £400 can be imposed on people breaching the regulations.



Roads affected are: Dewhurst Road , from Benson Road to Admirals Road.
Admirals Road, from Dewhurst Road to Ordnance Avenue.
Ordnance Avenue , from Oakwood Gate to the eastern junction with Admirals Road.
Cross Lane (westbound traffic) from Warrington Road to Lady Lane.
Lords Lane , from Locking Stumps Lane to Redvales Court.
Birchwood Boulevard throuighout Its entire length.
The Birchwood 10k is organised by Spectrum Striders running club. Last year it was only run as a “virtual” race because of the Covid situation but proved so popular that this year, a “virtual” version of the race is taking place alongside the main race.
Anyone who cannot make the main race or does not yet feel ready to take part in it can run a virtual race at a 10k location of their own choice until August 30.
