FRESH from the success of this year’s event there is no time to sleep for the volunteer team behind Penketh Carnival as they already have their thinking caps on for a Jubilee-themed carnival for next year.

The buzz of this year’s event breaking out of the pandemic has filled the team with excitement for what next year could become as they seek a Queen Elizabeth look-a-like in the local community.

One of the Penketh Carnival volunteer organisers, Dr. Leila Dirir said: “Whilst we are all exhausted from this weekend we are actually really excited about the Jubilee next year.
“We have already had the team briefing and planning for next year and have got so many great ideas.
“We plan to have a traditional British bake-off competition in a tent, cream teas, Morris dancers and even Queen tribute performers
Another lead organiser Sam Heathcote said: “We would like to put a call out in advance now to the local residents as we will hold a Queen Elizabeth II look-a-like competition. The winner will receive a £100 gift donation for a charity of their choice and will be our star guest of honour at the event.
“We will even supply the corgi! To anyone who has a grandma who is a ringer for Queen Elizabeth II we will hold the competition in the months before the event which is to be held on July 9th 2022”.
