Highest number of new COVID-19 cases for a month as 151 confirmed in Warrington

A total of 151 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in Warrington, the highest number for a month, in the latest data from Public Health England, with hospital inpatient numbers also increasing.

The 151 (107) new COVID-19 cases take the total number of cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 25,836 (25,685). It is the highest number of new cases in Warrington since 151 on July 20.



Hospital inpatients have risen from 27-30, another two patients were discharged and there were no further COVID-19 related deaths.
Infection rates in Warrington for the last seven days have risen again to 730 (705) – 348.6 (336.7) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period and are above the national average of 299.7 (296) per 100,000, which continues to rise.
Meanwhile, the number of people who tested positive for cCOVID-19 in England went up 6% last week, following two weeks of decline, latest data reveals.
NHS Test and Trace data shows that 190,508 people tested positive for COVID-19 at least once in the week ending 11 August.
The increase follows two weeks in which the number of people testing positive had fallen.
It comes after a University of Oxford study revealed that people who have been double-vaccinated can still contract and transmit the Delta variant.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 494 (494) 235.9 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 195.8.
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 576 (573).

Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths reported on Thursday, August 19 2021 was 113 (111), taking the total number of deaths to 131,373 (131,260).
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 36,572 (33,904), taking the total number to 6,392,160 (6,356,145).
Across the country, there are 6,379 (6,321) patients currently in hospital and 909 (925) on ventilation.
