A Warrington mum who is now looking forward to her daughter’s wedding and son’s 21st, thanks to life-saving surgery in America to remove a stage four brain tumour, is continuing with fundraising to help others.

Louise Hulme and her husband Kev, from Fearnhead, Warrington, launched a special fund-raising appeal earlier this year for the pioneering surgery at the Ivy Brain Tumour Centre in Phoenix, Arizona, raising more than £123,000.

Louise had her final radiotherapy treatment and the end of her phase two trial on July 15 when she rang the bell three times!
Now back home in Warrington, she has been told she has received the best drugs in the world at present in fighting Glioblastoma.
To say thank you to the team that helped perform the life-saving surgery a special fundraising event is taking place at her local pub, the Farmer’s Arms this Saturday, August 21.
The Family Festival runs from 12 midday until late. All money raised will go to the Ivy Brain Tumor Center and St Roccos Hospice. The Ivy Brain Tumour Centre have been absolutely fantastic in helping Louise’s treatment with a positive outcome so far and to show their appreciation Louise and her family wanted to give something back to them and help take the next step towards finding a cure for brain cancer.
The day will be filled with live music from several Warrington singers, bands and DJs for everyone to sing and dance along to.
Tickets are £5 per adult and £2.50 per child and can be bought now from The Farmers Arms, Fearnhead.
Louise said:”Although I will require regular MRI scans to be closely monitored, I should now live my best life as normal with the HOPE that any tumour remains dormant for years to come.
“It’s been a very challenging journey with a number of hurdles to overcome.
“The success of my treatments will be assessed over the next 6-12 months in the UK with all fingers crossed that the surgery and trial has been positive.
“There’s a much wider HOPE that not only has it worked for me but that my trial goes a tiny bit towards helping other Glioblastoma sufferers in the search for a cure for all of them.
“I’d like to thank everybody involved in making this journey possible. From what was a real long shot back in February when this plan was hatched, I have achieved the dream through the help of so many good people.
“The Ivy brain tumour teams have been absolutely fantastic, I genuinely cannot thank them enough. A huge huge thanks to everybody that took part in fundraising events and to everybody that has donated to make our plans become a reality. Without all of you and your kind donations, this trial and treatment would not have been possible.
“Thanks to every single one of you for the HOPE that I have been given. I can now begin to focus on my daughter’s wedding next year and my sons 21st birthday in 2023.
A fundraising page set up earlier in the year to help fund Louise’s treatment in America has now reached over £123,000.
Any further donations will be donated to cancer charities or cause similar to Louise’s.
