Significant milestone reached at local vaccination centre

WARRINGTON-based Orford Pharmacy has passed a significant milestone in its Covid-19 vaccination program at the Warrington Islamic Association centre in Bewsey.

The number of people vaccinated at the Warrington Islamic Association centre has now surpassed 40,000.

This is a steady increase from the end of May, when booking figures reached 23,000.
As the vaccination programme continues, it is reassuring to see rates steadily increase.
Where Covid cases in Warrington rose during June and July, cases have been decreasing, in no small part to the ongoing vaccination efforts.
A spokesperson for Orford Pharmacy said: “But we are not out of the woods yet – Warrington is still above the national average for Covid case rates. It remains vitally important that everyone continues to follow lockdown rules and gets themselves vaccinated as soon as possible else the pandemic be extended further.”
Orford’s vaccination centre is managed by a small number of staff at Warrington Islamic Association. The site is staffed by generous staff members and volunteers who work hard to
ensure the whole operation runs smoothly.
Thara Raj, Warrington’s Director of Public Health, said: “Maintaining social distancing, wearing a face covering, frequent and thorough hand washing, staying in well-ventilated areas, taking
regular symptom-free lateral flow tests and getting the vaccine when offered it will all help minimise transmission and will protect ourselves and our loved ones.”
Anyone who is eligible for a Covid-19 vaccination but has not yet received one is urged to book via the national booking service
