New COVID-19 infection rates continue to rise but hospital admissions remain low in comparison

COVID-19 infection rates in Warrington are continuing to rise with 71 new cases in the latest data from Public Health England, although hospital admissions are remaining low in comparison.

The 71 (76) new COVID-19 cases takes the total number of cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 24,749 (24,678).
Hospital inpatient numbers fell slightly over the weekend from 24-22 with nine patients discharged and no new deaths.



Infection rates in Warrington for the last seven days have risen again to 676 (668) – 322.8 (319) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period and are above the national average of 272.6 (269.8) per 100,000, which continues to rise.
Meanwhile, the UK has recorded 25,161 new COVID-19 cases and 37 more coronavirus-related deaths in the latest 24-hour period.
A total of 22,843 people had their first dose of a COVID vaccine on Sunday, taking the total to 47,059,639 – and 122,070 had their second jab, meaning 39,551,538 are now fully inoculated.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 489 (488) 233.5 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 194.3.
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 573 (573).

Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths reported on Monday, August 9 2021 was 37 (39), taking the total number of deaths to 130,357 (130,320).
