Infection rates fall again as 102 new COVID-19 cases reported in Warrington

COVID-19 infection rates in Warrington have fallen again after yesterday’s slight rise, although 102 new cases have been reported in the latest data from Public Health England.

A total of 102 (80) new COVID-19 cases have been reported, taking the total number of cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 24,289 (24,187).



Cases in Warrington for the last seven days have returned to a downward trend after yesterday’s marginal rise, to 689 (703) – 328.1 (334.7) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period– but still above the national average of 275 (279.5) per 100,000, which continues to fall.
Meanwhile, the UK has recorded a further 29,312 coronavirus infections and 119 more deaths in the latest 24-hour period.
This time last week the UK reported 27,734 cases and 91 deaths.
Some 29,508 people received their first dose of a vaccine yesterday, taking the overall total to 46,928,033.
And 143,002 were given their second jab, meaning 38,733,334 are now fully inoculated – 73.2% of the UK’s adult population.
Approximately 1.4 million teenagers will now be offered a jab after the government announced it was expanding the vaccination programme.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 488 (488) 232.4 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 194.4
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 573 (573).
Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths reported on Wednesday, August 4 2021 was 119 (138), taking the total number of deaths to 130,000 (129,881).
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 29,312 (21,691), taking the total number to 5,952,756 (5,923,820).
Across the country, there are 5,896 (6,099) patients currently in hospital and 887 (895) on ventilation.
