One more COVID-19 related death but infection rates continue to fall in Warrington

ONE more COVID-19 related death has sadly been reported at Warrington Hospital, although infection rates are continuing to fall according to the latest data from Public Health England.

A total of 77 (120) new COVID-19 cases have been reported, taking the total number of cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 24,107 (24,030).
Cases in Warrington for the last seven days have fallen again to 697 (734) – 331.9 (349.5) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period– but still above the national average of 283.8 (291.8) per 100,000, which has also fallen.



Meanwhile, the UK has recorded 21,952 new COVID-19 cases and 24 more coronavirus-related deaths in the latest 24-hour period.
The seven-day average for infections is 27% down from the previous week, while fatalities are up by 20.2%.
According to the latest data, 912 COVID patients were admitted to hospital on 27 July and there were 6,326 admissions in the last seven days – a weekly rise of 14.8%.

Current inpatients as of Monday, August 2 (confirmed positive result – 14 days or less from first positive sample) – 23 (22) including 4 (4) in ICU.

There are also 5 long-term COVID-related inpatients at the hospital.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 487 (486) 231.9 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 194.1
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 570 (570).

Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths reported on Monday, August 2 2021 was 24 (65), taking the total number of deaths to 129,743 (129,719).
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 21,952 (24,470), taking the total number to 5,880,667 (5,880,667).
Across the country, there are 5,943 (5,916) patients currently in hospital and 889 (869) on ventilation.
