One more COVID-19 death as hospital inpatient numbers increase but infection rates fall again

ANOTHER COVID-19 related death has sadly been reported at Warrington Hospital, with inpatient numbers also rising, although infection rates are continuing to fall in the town for a fifth consecutive day.

A total of four inpatients have also been discharged from Warrington & Halton Hospitals since yesterday, while inpatient numbers have risen from 24-26, with the number in intensive care increasing from 3-5.
The 85 (116) new COVID-19 cases reported takes the total number of confirmed cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 23,515 (23,430).
Cases in Warrington for the last seven days have fallen again to 1,086 (1,256) – 517.1 (598.1) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period– but still well above the national average of 417 (461.9) per 100,000, which have also fallen.



Meanwhile, the UK has recorded 23,511 new COVID-19 cases and 131 more deaths in the latest 24-hour period.
It is the seventh day in a row that the number of infections has fallen. But it is the highest number of daily deaths since 17 March, when 141 fatalities were reported.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 486 (486) 231.4 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 193.6.
