Bungalow with rooftop garden planned in Green Belt

PLANNING approval is again being sought for a detached bungalow with a rooftop garden on a Green Belt site at Rixton-with-Glazebrook.

The scheme is proposed at Woodend Farm, Woodend Lane and will involve the demolition of an existing tyre store.
Warrington Borough Council planning chiefs originally approved the scheme in 2018 but it never went ahead.
The new application involves the same proposed dwelling on the same site but includes an up-to-date ecology report which recommends the proposals be again accepted.

It states that the applicants, Stephen and Janine Walters, are passionate about tree planting and conservation and have created an arboretum consisting of some 1,500 trees nearby over the last 18 years.
Rixton-with-Glazebrook Parish Council opposed the original scheme on the grounds it was in the Green Belt. But planners decided the scheme did not require the “special circumstances” normally required for development in the Green Belt.
The existing steel-framed building to be demolished was originally used for agricultural purposes but since 2000 has been used for tyre storage.
