Road set to be closed for up to six weeks while work takes place in Grappenhall Heritage Area relaying cobbles

HISTORIC Grappenhall village centre is set to be closed to traffic for up to six weeks for ongoing work reconstructing and relaying of a cobbled road surface in a Heritage Area.

Warrington Borough Council intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to introduce a temporary prohibition of driving and clearway order on Church Lane, from its junction with Broad Lane to its junction with Glebe Avenue.



The Order will be effective from 26th July 2021 for 6 weeks, as and when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works.
The alternative route will be via Church Lane, A56 Chester Road, A50 Knutsford Road, Bellhouse Lane and vice versa or via Broad Lane, Grappenhall Lane, A50 Cliff Lane, A50 Knutsford Road, Bellhouse Lane and vice versa.
The restrictions are required for continuing works to the Heritage Area reconstructing and relaying cobbled road surface, including work to improve drainage.
