Infection rates continue to rise as 107 new COVID-19 cases confirmed in Warrington

AS the UK recorded another 32,548 COVID-19 cases, the highest daily total since January, another 107 new cases have been confirmed in Warrington, as infection rates continue to rise.

Despite the rising infections, the number of hospitalisations and deaths in the third wave remain low, compared to the second wave, although two deaths were sadly reported at Warrington Hospital, yesterday.



The 107 (124) new COVID-19 cases take the total number of confirmed cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 20,332 (20,208).
Cases in Warrington for the last seven days have risen again, with 735 (734) – 350 (349.5) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period– still well above the national average of 256.2 (244.3) per 100,000, which also continues to rise.

Current inpatients as of Wednesday, July 7 (confirmed positive result – 14 days or less from first positive sample) – 12 (13) including 3 (3) in ICU.

There are also 5 long term COVID-related inpatients at the hospital.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 482 (481) 229.5 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 192.
