Highest number of new COVID-19 cases confirmed in Warrington since early January

AS health chiefs urge caution with rising infection rates in the town, 163 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Warrington, although hospital admissions remain low.

It is the highest number of new cases recorded in Warrington since 217 on January 12.
There are currently 12 inpatients at Warrington & Halton Hospitals NHS Trust, with two in intensive care, with two patients discharged since yesterday.



The 163 (84) new COVID-19 cases take the total number of confirmed cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 19,462 (19,462).
Cases in Warrington for the last seven days have risen again, with 521 (519) – 248.1 (247.1) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period– well above the national rate of 145.4 (134.3) per 100,000, which also continues to rise.
Warrington & Halton Hospitals figures Monday-Friday, excluding Bank Holidays.
Current inpatients as of Tuesday, June 29 (confirmed positive result – 14 days or less from first positive sample) – 10 (12) including 2 (3) in ICU.

There have been no hospital deaths since April.

  1. I’m not surprised. We were in LIDL Latchford yesterday afternoon and I counted at least 6 without masks or lanyards. All aged between 25 and 40.
