Phased road and footpath closures for bridge renewal works

A number of phased road and footpath closures are set to take place close to Warrington town centre in July and August while Network Rail carry out bridge renewal works.

Warrington Borough Council has given notice it intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be as follows: –
Prohibition of Driving
Bewsey Street – From its junction with Edgeworth Street in a south east direction to the carriageway end.
Footway Closure
Bewsey Street – From its junction with Edgeworth Street to its junction with Midland Way; Foundry Street – From its junction with Dallam Lane to its junction with Midland Way; Midland Way (north footway) – From its junction with Legh Street to its junction with Bewsey Street.
The Order will be effective from 10th July 2021 as and when signed on site.
The works are to be carried out in phases as follows: Phase 1 Footway Closures – From 10pm on Saturday 10th July 2021 to 6am on Sunday 11th July 2021; Phase 2 Footway Closures – From 10pm on Saturday 17th July 2021 to 6am on Sunday 18th July 2021; Phase 3 Footway Closures – From 10pm on Saturday 24th July 2021 to 6am on Sunday 25th July 2021; Phase 4 Footway Closures – From 13th August 2021 to 13th September 2021; Phase 5 Prohibition of Driving – From 6pm on Friday 27th August 2021 to 6am on Tuesday 31st August 2021. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works.
The alternative routes will be as follows: Bewsey Street – Footway Closure – via Edgeworth Street, Midland Way and vice versa; Foundry Street – Footway Closure – via Dallam Lane, Tanners Lane, Bewsey Street, Edgeworth Street and vice versa; Midland Way (north footway) – Footway Closure – via Midland Way South footway and vice versa.
The restrictions are required to allow Network Rail to carry out bridge renewal works.
