MAYOR of Warrington Cllr Maureen Creaghan is urging residents to show their support for Armed Forces Day this Saturday (June 26).

The Armed Forces Day flag will be flown at Warrington town hall to recognise the efforts of members of the Armed Forces past and present.

During the unprecedented events of the past year, the Armed Forces have been unwavering in their support to the NHS and local authorities to battle the coronavirus pandemic.
From helping to set-up vaccination sites, to supporting community testing, and providing clinical support to the NHS, the Armed Forces continue to work tirelessly across the UK in the national effort to beat the virus.
As well as taking on additional responsibilities during the pandemic, the Armed Forces are busy working around the world, delivering aid, providing security and fighting terrorism.

Mayor Cllr. Maureen Creaghan

Mayor of Warrington, Cllr Maureen Creaghan said: “These past 15 months have been difficult for all of us and many have stepped up to help others and their community. The Armed Forces have been one such group that have risen to the occasion and provided support for many essential services throughout the pandemic, though they are often forgotten in wider discussions when we recognise the efforts of our key workers.
“I would like to encourage all Warrington residents to show their support in their own way this Armed Forces Day and take the time to reflect on the efforts of those currently serving, their families, reservists, cadets and veterans.”
