Hospital COVID-19 inpatient numbers rise again as 49 new cases confirmed in Warrington

HOSPITAL COVID-19 related inpatient numbers at Warrington & Halton Hospitals have risen over the weekend, while 49 new cases have been reported in the town, with infection rates still more than double the national average.

Hospital COVID-19 positive inpatients numbers have increased from seven to 12 over the weekend, including one in intensive care.



The 49 (43) new COVID-19 cases take the total number of confirmed cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 18,856 (18,807).
Cases in Warrington for the last seven days have risen again, with 387 (380) – 184.3 (180.9) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period– more than twice the national rate of 89.3 (85.1) per 100,000, which also continues to rise.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said it is “looking good” for July 19 to be the “terminus point” for England’s coronavirus restrictions – although he did not rule out the prospect of further lockdowns in the winter.
“You can never exclude that there will be some new disease, some new horror that we simply haven’t budgeted for or accounted for,” he said, when asked if he could discount the possibility of reimposing COVID-19 measures later this year, warning that the country could be in for a rough winter for all sorts of reasons.
