Big wins for Warrington and Grappenhall

THERE were big wins for both Grappenhall and Warrington in the RSK Cheshire County Cricket League at the weekend.
Grappenhall’s seven wicket win at Brooklands cemented their number four position in the league while Warrington’s much needed 61-run victory at Marple moved them awau from the bottom place.
Sam Guest, Lewis Porter and Ian Hall took three wickets each as Grappers dismissed Brooklands for 81 in 31 overs.
Only two of the home batsmen got into double figures and the side could easily have been bowled out for an even more embarrassing total but for the efforts of the middle and lower order.



Grappers lost two quick wickets but Peter Barnes, 43 not out, steadied the ship and saw the side home without further scares.
Warrington were struggling at 26-5 but 51 from Tom Higham and a fine 72 from Rohan Luthra enable them to post a useful 172-8 in 50 overs. Then Marple were bowled out for 111 with paceman Jake Liddle taking 5-21.
Grappenhall 2nd enjoyed a massive 141-run victory over Brooklands at Broad Lane, batting firs t and totalling 227.
Ben Botha hit a fine 100 and Paul Radage 85 to boost a Grappenhall total that would otherwise have been disappointing. Then Ross Arrowsmith took 6-38 and Steve Rooney 3-32 as Brooklands were rolled-over for 86.
Warrington 2nd went down by five wickets at home to Heaton Mersey after being bowled out for 113.
Adi Ajay hit 32 and Nick Andrew 30. The visitors hit off the runs for the loss of five wickets, all of which well to Paolo Manfredi at a cost of 34 runs.
Grappenhall 3rd lost by five wickets at Romiley afteer being bowled out for 124, Lewis Porter top scoring with 23. The home side had little trouble reaching their target, despite David Seed’s 3-23.
In the UKFast Cheshire League, Appleton went down by four wickets at Knutsford.
Ian Richards top scored with 25 as Appleton were dismissed for 112.
Knutsford also struggled for runs and owed their victory to the lower order. Joe Cooper took 5-35 for Appleton.
Appleton 2nd won by 33 runs at Port Sunlight after batting first and hitting 193-7.
There was a big win for Appleton 3rd after they restricted North East Cheshire to 118-9, Roger Cawthorn taking 6-25.
Paul White hit 60 not out as Appleton coasted to a nine wicket victory.
Lymm Oughtrington Park were bowled out for 127 in 40 overs after visitors Maritime had batted first and totalled 176.
Lymm 2nd won by six wickets at Irby after restricting the home side to 159-4.
Glazebury went down at Burton after the Wirral side had hit 185. Tom Whitby took 5-45.
Jack Warhurst hit 38 for Glazebury but the side were bowled out for 97.
Glazebury 2nd enjoyed a seven wicket victory over Appleton 4th at Hurst Lane.
Appleton made 120, Ravi Elaprolu top scoring with 41. Ryan Warhurst took 5-41 for Glazebury.
Graham Albon hit 40 not out and skipper Alex Wort 36 as Glazebury notched up 122-3.
