Police pursuit from Moss Side ends when car careers into wall in Warrington town centre

A police pursuit from Moss Side in Manchester ended when a car careered into the wall of an office building in Warrington town centre during the early hours of the morning.

At around 2.00 am on Tuesday 8 June 2021, police were called to Main Road, Moss Side following a report of an assault.



Officers established a woman had been assaulted and a man had made off from the scene in the woman’s vehicle.
The victim sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital. She was discharged the same day.
The driver was detained on Bold Street, Warrington, during the early hours after the vehicle collided with a lamp post and wall outside office premises on Bold Street in the town centre. The vehicle had also previously collided with a wall on Wash Lane.
The only vehicles involved were the car and the police car in pursuit.
The driver went to hospital by ambulance but was later discharged in police custody. An officer also sustained a minor injury to his hand.
Michael Ward, aged 24, of Main Road Moss Side was taken into custody and has since been charged with attempted robbery and breach of a non-molestation order.
