Infection rates continue to rise but hospital admissions remain low as 40 new COVID-19 cases confirmed

WITH Warrington now a designated area for support packages, including surge testing, due to increasing infection rates, another 40 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the town, as the milestone of 30 million people being fully vaccinated was reached.

Hospital admissions remain low in Warrington, at just two, but they are rising in other parts of the country.
NHS England has also extended the offer of a vaccine to everyone over the age of 23, while all over-18s in England will be able to book a first dose by the end of this week, Downing Street has confirmed.
Meanwhile the 40 (65) new COVID-19 cases take the total number of confirmed cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 18,514 (18,474).



Cases in Warrington for the last seven days continue to rise, with 281 (248) – 133.8 (118.1) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period– which is now well above the national rate of 70.2 (67.5) per 100,000, which also continues to rise.
Warrington & Halton Hospitals has reintroduced its daily reporting of figures Monday-Friday, excluding Bank Holidays.

There have been no hospital deaths since April.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 486 (485) 231.4 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 191.5

Across the country, there are 1,136 (1,089) patients currently in hospital and 188 (161) on ventilation.
