POLICE are seeking help to track down a fly-tipper who dumped rubbish on a country lane in Croft, Warrington, and then set it on fire.

Local police received a message from a concerned member of the public who came across the fire on Cross Lane in Croft yesterday evening.

It appeared to be rubbish that had been dumped and then set alight.
A police spokesperson said: “Thankfully they were able to put out the fire which was in a small wooded area near to the road. With the continuing hot weather, dry ground by woodlands, if not spotted swiftly, this could have been a very different affair.”
If anyone managed to get a registration from a vehicle at the scene they are urged to contact Warrington Brough Council to report the incident.
