St Rocco’s rowers set to take to the water as Dragon boat race returns

AFTER a difficult year for fundraising events St. Rocco’s Hospice is happy to announce that the annual Dragon Boat Race will return for 2021 and will feature a team made up of staff members from the hospice.

The Dragon Boat Race on Sunday, July 25, will see 12 teams of up to 20 rowers take to the waters at Warrington Rowing Club as they compete to be crowned the Kings and Queens of the Dragons and take home the coveted trophy.

‘The Mighty Loaders’, a team made up of staff from Warrington Borough Council and other companies, have won for the past three years running but will face tough competition this year from not only St. Rocco’s Hospice themselves, but many other local businesses such as Dreamscape, Zachary Daniels Recruitment and BMech.
“The Dragon Boat Race is one of our most popular events and we are thrilled to not only be able to bring it back this year but to also take part,” said Nicola Henshaw, Senior Relationships Fundraiser at St. Rocco’s.
She added: “We are of course hoping to bring home the trophy but the important thing is we all have fun on the day and raise as much money as possible for patient care here at the hospice. We hope our local community will get behind our ‘Rocco’s Rowers’ and make this our most successful year yet”
St. Rocco’s would also like to extend a huge thank you to everybody at ‘Dragon Boat Events’ who have been a wonderful support to us over the years and have helped make every Dragon Boat Race a huge success
