THE M62 at Winwick was closed in both directions during “rush hour” on Tuesday evening due to a police incident.

The closures caused queues on the roads leading out of Warrington and Winwick.
The closure was due to concerns for the safety of a person on a bridge crossing the motorway, who was taken to safety.

Vehicles on the motorway were able to use junction nine to exit the carriageways.
ALL lanes are now open.
Meanwhile, there were also delays on the M6 northbound between junction 20 for the M56 near Lymm and junction 21 at Woolston following a three-vehicle crash.
No injuries were reported.
