A teenager has been given a robust warning by police after being stopped in the town centre after CCTV operators observed him carrying what appeared to be a handgun.

A Block officers were deployed to the area and stopped the male in question. After a search of him they located the weapon.

On closer inspection, it was confirmed to be a ball-bearing gun. However, from a distance, it could easily be mistaken for a real firearm which could cause significant worry to others.
Aside from pointing the obvious out, individuals waving something like this around could also be committing an offence under the firearms act.
The weapon has now been seized and will be destroyed. Robust words of advice given to the teenager involved.
