Spitfire flypast confirmed for Lymm Historic Transport Day

WHEN the team at Lymm Historic Transport Day submitted an application to the Battle of Britain memorial flight for a Spitfire flypast at this year’s Transport Day it was more in hope than expectation.

That was back in October 2020 when the prospect of Transport Day 2021 happening at all still seemed very uncertain.

Since then the volunteer organisers have been working hard in challenging circumstances to bring together an event in the hope it could go ahead on Sunday June be 27th.
Just last week, with the prospects for the event looking more certain by the day the team received the fantastic news that Lymm had been chosen as a venue for a triple flypast by one of the flight’s Spitfires*
“This news has really re-energised the team” said Event Director, Alan Williams. “The appearance of the Spitfire is always an emotional occasion but will be especially poignant this year as we relaunch the event after such a difficult year for everyone”.
Organisers are strongly encouraging booking tickets in advance this year to eliminate queuing and to guarantee admission. It looks like an event not to be missed … More (including tickets) at lymmtransport.org.uk.
