COVID-19 infection rates rise above national average and in schools


WHILE no new deaths have been reported at Warrington Hospital four new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in the town by Public Health England, with infection rates increasing in local schools and back up above the national average.

Cases in local schools are continuing to rise, with seven schools now reporting cases, compared to five yesterday and 262 pupils sent home self-isolating, compared to 197 yesterday.
The 4 (2) new cases in the latest 24-hour daily update from Public Health England, means the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases reported in Warrington since the start of the pandemic is now 17,900 (17,896).
Cases in Warrington for the last seven days were 52 (46) – 24.8 (21.9) per 100,000 population, showing an increase in new cases over a seven-day period. This compares to the national rate of 22.3 (22.6) per 100,000.
