LOCAL charity Footsteps has strengthened its support services in Warrington and St Helens by becoming a subsidiary of national health and social care charity Making Space.

Footsteps has been supporting families affected by substance dependency within their own families for more than 20 years. This new relationship with warrington-based Making Space will mean Footsteps can reach out to even more families seeking help due to drug and alcohol use.
Founded by a small group of concerned parents, Footsteps has provided professional advice, support and respite opportunities to hundreds of individuals and families. The organisation achieved charitable status back in 2000.

Footsteps’ chairman Anne Jenner said: “We are delighted to be becoming a subsidiary of Making Space.
” Making Space has a fantastic reputation in the area and is well known nationally for its excellent social care and carer support services. We believe that their experience and expertise can only enhance the work we do at Footsteps.
“Alcohol and drug dependency is a huge problem nation-wide and Warrington/ St Helens are no exception. The impact of Covid has inevitably increased the demand for a support service like Footsteps and I believe that being part of the Making Space group of companies can help us to reach out to even more people who need our help.”
Rachel Peacock, chief executive of Making Space, said: “The support that Footsteps provide to families during such difficult times is absolutely invaluable. They give families a trusted person to talk to, they empower them to make positive changes in their family relationships, and to take control of their lives and improve their wellbeing.
“With their vision, values and ambitions aligning so well with our own, we are thrilled to have Footsteps become the first subsidiary of our newly formed, Making Space Group. We are looking forward to working together with Footsteps to expand the much needed support for families.”
Footsteps will continue to deliver its services under its current name from offices in Warrington town centre and the Peter Street Centre St Helens.
