Firefighters called out three times to deal with deliberate fires in the open

FIREFIGHTERS were called out three times in Warrington last night to deal with deliberate fires in the open in park and woodland areas.

The first incident was shortly after 6pm when one crew from Penketh was called to a fire in the open in Wellfield Street, Sankey Bridges.



Firefighters used a water backpack to extinguish a small fire in the open at Wellfield Street Recreation Ground.
The crew were in attendance for around 40 minutes.
The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate and anyone with any information is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 968718 or visit www.cheshire.police.uk/tua
Then at 6.15pm a fire crew from Lymm was called out to deal with a fire in a wooded area off Loushers Lane, Latchford.
Firefighters used a water backpack and shovels to extinguish a small fire in a woodland area off Loushers Lane in Warrington.
The crew were at the scene for around 30 minutes.
The cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate and anyone with any information is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101.
Then at 9.20pm One fire engine from Warrington was called out to deal with a fire in a park at Bewsey.
Firefighters used a water backpack to extinguish a number of wooden panels which had been deliberately set alight at a park on Troutbeck Avenue.
The crew was detained at the scene for around 20 minutes.
