WARRINGTON’s popular town centre venue the Showbar has announced its permanent closure.

The announcement was made earlier today, Sunday, via the nightclub’s facebook page.

A statement from the venue based on Friar’s Gate, which has been closed due to lockdown, in the town centre, said:

“It is with a very heavy heart that Showbar announces our permanent closure.
“Owing to circumstances beyond our control it is not viable to continue.
“After 11 wonderful years serving our valued and loyal customers with great shows and entertainment supported by our amazing staff we thank you all and we will
miss you
Stay safe
Showbar
2009-2021”

The venue rose from the ashes of the former Mississippi Showbar and Secrets which was destroyed in a fire in 2004 and was created by well-known businessman Paul Keepe, who launched the new venue in 2009 but sadly died just over a year later aged just 61.
The building is one of Warrington’s best known and was once the Palace Theatre.
